I get asked this question more than any other.
What actually happens? What will I feel? Is it going to be weird? Do I need to have done it before? What if I can’t do it properly?
And I understand completely why people ask. Breathwork is one of those things that is genuinely difficult to describe from the outside. It sounds either too simple to be significant or too strange to be approachable. Neither of those things is true, but I understand why the uncertainty is there.
So let me just tell you exactly what happens. From the moment you arrive to the moment you leave.
Before You Begin
When you arrive at a Ninth Dimension session, the first thing I want you to feel is that you are in a safe space. That sounds simple but it matters more than almost anything else. Your nervous system needs to feel safe before it will let anything go. So we take time at the beginning. We get comfortable. We chat. I explain what is going to happen and what you might experience. There are no surprises.
You will lie down on a mat, often with a blanket and an eye mask. Some people bring their own pillow. The room will be warm and calm. Music will begin to play, and for 9D sessions, this is not background music. It is a multidimensional soundscape, sometimes including live recordings from ceremonial spaces, that forms a significant part of the journey itself.
The Breathing Pattern
Once we begin, I will guide you into a specific breathing pattern. In Ninth Dimension sessions we work primarily with conscious connected breathing, sometimes called circular breathing. This means you breathe continuously, without pausing between the inhale and the exhale. In through the nose or mouth, out through the mouth, in a steady, connected rhythm.
This is not complicated. I promise you. Anyone can do this. You do not need to be fit, flexible, experienced or spiritually inclined. You just need to breathe, and I will guide you through every moment of it.
What Happens in Your Body
This is where it gets interesting.
When you breathe in this conscious, connected way, something shifts physiologically. Your prefrontal cortex, the thinking, planning, controlling part of your brain, begins to quieten. Your limbic system, the emotional, feeling, processing part, comes forward. The result is that you start to access parts of yourself that your rational mind usually keeps a very firm lid on.
Stored tension begins to move. Emotions that have been sitting somewhere in your body, waiting for permission to be felt, start to surface. Some people feel tingling in their hands or face. Some feel heat. Some feel a heaviness lifting. Some feel a profound sense of peace that arrives seemingly out of nowhere. Some cry. Many people cry, and it is always, without exception, a release rather than a breakdown.
Your body is not overwhelmed. It is finally exhaling.
I am present throughout all of this. Moving around the room, checking in, offering grounding touch where it is wanted and appropriate. You are never alone in whatever is arising.
What You Might Experience
I want to be honest with you here, because I think honesty serves people better than promises.
Every session is different, and every person’s experience is different. Some people have profound, almost visual journeys. Some experience deep emotional release. Some feel physical sensation moving through the body. Some feel very little in their first session and a great deal in their second.
There is no right experience. Whatever arises is exactly what needs to arise for you at this particular moment. I have never had a session where nothing happened, even if the person leaves feeling they had a quieter experience than they expected. Something always shifts. It is just that the shift is not always the dramatic, visible kind.
After the Session
When the breathing practice ends, I bring you gently back. We spend time in stillness. Your nervous system needs this transition, and I will not rush it.
Most people leave feeling lighter than when they arrived. Calmer. Clearer. Some feel emotional for the rest of the day as things continue to settle. Some feel an almost physical spaciousness in their chest that they have not felt in a long time. Almost everyone, in my experience, wants to come back.
A Final Note
I started doing breathwork because I needed it. Not because I was looking for a new wellness trend or a spiritual experience. Because I was carrying more than I could hold and I needed somewhere to put it down.
I built Ninth Dimension because I have seen, again and again, what happens when people are given a safe space to breathe properly. When they are held rather than fixed. When they are trusted to know what their own body needs.
If you have been curious, this is my invitation to you. You do not need to know what you are coming for. You do not need to have it figured out. You just need to arrive.
Everything else happens from there.
